The Home of the Warriors

AB Warriors Cricket Club was founded by former Canada Head Coach Amarinder Bhinder, also known as Coach AB. A highly respected and globally recognized cricket coach, Coach AB brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the club. His journey in cricket coaching began in 2004 when he moved to South Africa, where he quickly proved his coaching aptitude by becoming one of the few to pass Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) Level-3 coaching qualification on the first attempt.

A Global Coaching Journey

Coach AB’s career took off in Johannesburg, where he began coaching at Wits University. Over the years, he has had the privilege of working with many world-class cricketers, including Temba Bavuma, the white-ball captain of South Africa’s national team. His vast international experience and success in nurturing top talent have earned him respect across the cricketing world.

In 2018, Coach AB relocated to Canada, where he was appointed Head Coach of Cricket Canada in 2019, following his work with the Canada Development Program (CCDP). After mentoring numerous successful Canadian cricketers, Coach AB recognized the need to develop cricket at the grassroots level. His passion for supporting young players and fostering a love for the game led to the creation of AB Warriors Cricket Club.

At the core of Coach AB’s coaching philosophy is the belief in biomechanics, mental toughness, and the power of consistent practice. Grounded in sports science and research on motivation and grit, his approach emphasizes hard work and persistence as the keys to mastery. He is committed to helping players develop not only their technical skills but also their mental resilience.

AB Warriors Cricket Club is on a mission to create a positive and respectful environment that fosters a love for the game of cricket, ensuring that cricket is played with integrity and sportsmanship. At AB Warriors Cricket Club we aim to achieve this through:

  • Establish a clear code of conduct for players, coaches, and parents that outlines expected behavior on and off the field.
  • Reinforce the importance of respect for the game, opponents, officials, and teammates.
  • Recognize and reward players, teams, and coaches who exemplify the Spirit of Cricket 
  • Ensure that training sessions and matches are fun and engaging, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
  • Encourage open communication where players feel safe to express themselves and learn from mistakes.
  • Ensure the cricket academy has access to well-maintained pitches, training nets, and practice areas suitable for various skill levels.
  • Set and communicate expectations regarding attendance, punctuality, and commitment for both players and coaches in written guidelines.
  • Foster a culture of accountability by having coaches and players discuss their commitments openly, promoting peer support and motivation.
  • Regularly gather feedback from players, parents, and coaches about the training experience and the emphasis on the Spirit of Cricket.
  • Use feedback to continually refine programs and ensure they align with the mission.
